I love making candies!! I wanted to make a box of candies for my Daddy as part of his birthday. And in the immortal words of my Mama, “Presentation, presentation, presentation!!”
You can use any of your favor candy recipes. I root through the web and find things that sound great. I do sometimes look for recipes that are not too complicated but sometimes I have to jump into the less-easy ones because they sound delicious.
I found these boxes at Michael’s that look like books. I made 4 different kinds of candies and decorated them. The box I got was the perfect size to get my candies in a nice pattern. Some things are just meant to be. I made the card and found a great ribbon…Presentation!!
One of my parent’s favorite candies I make for them is a candy cookie dough recipe. Since I have so many I wanted to at least share this one. I use it a lot for different holidays since it seems to be a favorite for a lot of people!!

- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar till light and fluffy. Add the flour, milk and vanilla; mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips and pecans. Shape into 1-inch balls (or your desired shape or size); place on waxed paper-lined baking sheet or plate. Loosely cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until firm.
